so I haven't done much sewing lately...

...but I have been baking! I've recently become obsessed with baking/decorating sugar cookies and I've been making up all kinds of excuses to practice. Fortunately, Easter provided me with a legit excuse to bake some eggcellent cookies. Here are some pictures from "Easter Cook Project 2010."

you've got to start somewhere...

and make sure you've got the proper tools... I love my egg cookie cutters that
I got 50% off at Hobby Lobby...

dough is important too... and this junk is legit.

this is my "work table." When I'm not using if for sewing, I use it for baking...

baking in the oven...

and cooling. I've only got one tiny cooling rack so I'm forced to improvise.

Finally... the finished product. I won't lie, I LOVE these eggs.

and here are the little chicks, bunnies and lamb. I like 'em, but I'm not in love.

another shot... can you find the cracked egg?

the Easter spread...

close up...

and here are the little bags I made for some of my dear friends in Tuscaloosa.

I also made these little elephants for the ladies on the rowing team
before one of their races. I love this little cookie cutter but I have a feeling it
won't last much longer... I'm now on the hunt for a new little elephant...

spring WILL come.

This is what I keep telling myself. I mean, winter can't last forever, right? While I'm waiting I've been working on some spring inspired orders...here are some pictures of a custom order from a dear friend of mine. thanks, Mags!

And because Valentine's day must come before spring can get here
I decided to spread a little love this year...

with lots of hearts and hugs...

so i made these sweet treats, packaged them up and left them in mailboxes, cars, etc.

a couple customs...

so i've been sitting here for awhile trying to come up with something fantastically amusing to write... obviously, i've got nothin'. so here are a few custom orders i've been working on...

this set is a custom order... this brown and pink polka dot set is probably one of my favorites so far... so sweet!
if you look closely inside the shoes you might just sneak a peak of my brand new custom labels...
here's the back side... i just love, love, love this fabric...and my new labels.

and here is a custom order for a dear old friend from college... the colors didn't show up quite as I would prefer. Unfortunately, the contrast between the wood and the bib isn't significant; however, this set is another favorite... I think it's safe to say I'm pretty much in love with that brown houndstooth.

FOR SALE:

I have additional sets of the pink and brown for sale if anyone is interested. $10 each, $16 for the set.

I also have an additional set of the green and brown houndstooth for sale, with pink ric racinstead of the green. $10 each, $16 for the set.

Eventually, I'll come up with a better system for selling this stuff. I do have an etsy store : http://www. brickandflower.etsy.com. Currently, it looks pretty rough, so please don't judge!

If you're interested in purchasing anything you've seen on the blog, please email me at brickandflower@gmail.com!

brick&flower

brick&flower... for those of you who know me well, brick&flower might have some meaning to you. However, I suspect many will be curious, so here we go. The brick&flower thing began almost 20 years ago when my I told my mother that when I grew up, I would have a little boy and little girl, and they would be named brick & flower. Now, at that time, these names where clearly ludicrous; however, with the names that fly these days, it's not too far from fruition. Anyway, I've been trying to come up with a name for my "business" for a while now with no luck... So, I prayed about it and at 2:17pm this afternoon brick & flower popped into my mind. To Him, be the glory.
